Limiting how much inventory a specific user can acquire.
Consumption limits allow you to set limits on how much inventory can be consumed by users at various levels, including company, department, location, and so on. Please note that your device may not be support all of the expanded capabilities of MarginPoint 8.
- Consumption limits are defined for a company and can be used by all companies below that company on the company tree. In other words, consumption limits defined for a parent company apply to all of that company's child companies.
- Consumption Limits can be assigned to users, locations, departments, items, and/or reference codes at child companies.
- If a consumption limit is defined for a location only, then the limit applies to the total consumption of all items in that location.
- If the location the consumption limit is defined for is a POU device, it must be defined as follows:
- The consumption limit must be assigned to one Department and one item.
- The consumption limit must be based on quantity only. POU devices cannot recognize limits based on cost.
- If a consumption limit is associated with a location and more than one item, then the limit applies to the total consumption of those two items at that location.
- If there are overlapping consumption limits on an item, the more restrictive limit takes precedence. For example, if the consumption limit for a location is set to $100 and the consumption limit for an item is set to $300, then no more than $100 worth of that item can be consumed from that location.
- Consumption limits can be assigned at any of the following levels:
- Company
- Department
Aggregate for the entire department or applied to each user individually
- Location
- Reference Code
- Classification
- Item
- User Job Function
A consumption limit configured for a specific job function applies individually to each user assigned the job function. For example, if a consumption limit of one pair of gloves per day is assigned to a job function, each individual assigned that job function will be allowed one pair of gloves each day.
