4. Security Role Management

A security role is a permission given to users who require certain access or limits to what they can do.

A Security Role is a collection of permissions. These Roles will determine what access and functionality a user can perform. If a user has permissions to create another user, he is allowed to grant that user only those roles/permissions that he has access to (See the General Access Rule in Chapter 1). There are four standard Security Roles which MarginPoint provides. They are the following:

  • Inventory Consumer – Permissions to allow a user to login into a Point of Use (POU) device and perform an issue transaction.
  • Inventory Technician – Permissions which allow a user to perform administrative transactions and functions on a POU device with a MarginPoint Controller (Secure or Select Machines only).
  • Company Administrator –This role allows a user to perform all Administrative functions on the MarginPoint 8 website. This includes Item, User, Company, Analytical and POU Management.
  • Mobile Application – This role allows users to login and use the MarginPoint Mobile App. The Mobile App itself can be used to perform transactions on a mobile storeroom and Safety Express.
