8. Inventory Stocking Location Management

A stocking location itself is the Point of Use (POU) machine or location from which an inventory item can be issued.

8.1 Location Hierarchy

Like with Companies, POU locations also use a hierarchy. All POU location must have at least one valid Site. Storeroom and Mobile Storeroom Location can then be created directly under a site. All other POU location require an Area, before the Location itself can be created.

Multiple Sites and Areas can be created. Each site is affixed to a Time zone (one of 7 options ranging from Hawaii to Mid-Atlantic). Every Site, Area and Location will have a mnemonic field. These exact entries will then be added to the Secure, Select or Safety Express and allow each machine to communicate and be identified as the one specific machine for this exact company.

A stocking location itself is the Point of Use (POU) machine or location from which an inventory item can be issued. Each inventory stocking location must be assigned one of the following stocking location types:

  • MarginPoint Secure: A family of POU devices controlled by a MarginPoint Controller Unit.
  • MarginPoint Secure Express: A family of half height POU devices controlled by a MarginPoint controller unit.
  • MarginPoint Select: A family of locker type POU devices controlled by a MarginPoint controller unit.
  • MarginPoint Safety Express: A family of coil-type POU devices controlled by a basic numerical keypad.
  • MarginPoint Sentry: A family of locker type POU devices controlled by a basic numerical keypad.
  • Storeroom
  • Mobile Storeroom
  • Free issue

A stocking location can consist of 1 or more bins. Bins are sub-locations within a stocking location where inventory is physically stored. An item can be stored in one or more bins. A bin in a storeroom can hold many items. A bin in a POU can hold only one item.
