9.3 Assign Catalog Item to an Inventory Location

Once the catalog item has been created, each catalog item will need to be assigned to an inventory location.

  1. At the far left of the home screen, click the Company tab to display the company navigation tree. Picture16-3
  2. In the Company Tree, click the company this item will be associated with. The item will be visible to users of this company and all organizations above this location, but will not be visible to users assigned below this location.
  3. Click the Material Management drop-down. Picture19-1
  4. Click the Catalog option in the drop-down. The Material Management> Catalog Window will open and display all items assigned to the selected company.
    Note: If the item is not displayed, click the Show Child Companies Records Checkbox.
  5. Click the checkbox for the catalog item to be assign to an inventory location.
  6. In the Manage box on the ribbon bar, click the Edit Item Option. Picture20-2
  7. Click Assign to New Stocking Location. The Assign to New Stocking Location window will open.
  8. Enter the stocking location information in all of the required fields. Required fields are marked with a red circle and include the following:
  9. Stocking Location drop-down: if the location does not appear, see “Create A Stocking Location” for instructions.
  10. Use the Cycle Count Interval drop-down to assign the cycle count interval. Picture21-2
  11. The Base UOM (the unit of measure used for purchasing this item from the supplier) will appear and cannot be edited from the screen.
  12. Use the Issue UOM drop-down to select the unit of measure to be used when issuing this item.
  13. Type the multiplier in the Conversion Factor field that, when multiplied by the Base UOM, equals the Issue UOM (the unit of measure used when issuing this item).
  14. Use the Replenishment Method drop-down to select the replenishment method used for this item.
  15. Enter information in the optional fields as desired. It is important to enter in the Min and Max fields to ensure proper reordering of the item.
  16. If defined, enter data for the custom fields.
  17. Click Save to assign this catalog item to the selected stocking location. This item is now an inventory item.
