8.5 Configuring a Storeroom Location

Storeroom locations are non POU device that issue by hand.

A storeroom location can be in a location where items are issued by hand, rather than through a POU device. Configuration of a storeroom location is extremely flexible. A storeroom must have a least one level and there is no limit to the maximum number of levels in the hierarchy. Any terminology can be used to refer to those levels. For example, a storeroom hierarchy could be configured with any number of the following level labels:

  • Room
  • Area
  • Aisle
  • Cabinet
  • Shelf
  • Bin
  • Compartment
  • At each level of this configuration, any terminology can be used.

The number of the actual storage locations bins will be determined by the physical and organizational layout of the storeroom. Once the hierarchy is defined, MarginPoint 8 can automatically generate a hierarchy, which can then be edited only during this setup. Bins can be sequenced so that items are issued in a defined sequence. For example, if V-belts are stored on a wall near the counter and also in a cabinet, MarginPoint 8 can be configured to issue from the wall until inventory on the wall has been exhausted, then issue from the cabinet.
